Privacy Policy
Last Updated: September 16, 2026
ichbinjona.com ("we," "our," or "us"), the developer of Marker for Creators, is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data the app processes, why, and what stays private.
The short version
Your creative work stays yours. Your recording sessions, markers and camera setups live on your device and in your own synced storage. We use anonymized analytics to improve the app, and we measure our advertising using Apple's privacy-preserving SKAdNetwork technology, which never identifies you personally. The app shows no tracking permission popups because we do not track you across other apps or websites.
Information We Collect
1. Data Stored on Your Device
Your recording sessions, markers, timecode data, camera setups and app settings are stored locally on your device. This content is your creative work and we never use it for advertising or analytics.
2. Session Sync
Your sessions are stored in our secure cloud database so they are available across your devices and in companion apps. Sessions are tied to an anonymous account ID, or to your account if you sign in. We do not access or analyze the content of your sessions.
3. Analytics via PostHog
We collect anonymized usage analytics to improve the app: app opens, feature usage, onboarding progress and subscription events, along with device type, OS version and app version. Analytics are processed on PostHog's EU servers. We never collect the content of your sessions, your location, your contacts, or personally identifiable information.
4. In-App Purchases
All purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store your payment details. We use RevenueCat, a subscription management service, to validate your subscription status. RevenueCat receives anonymized transaction information (product, price, currency, subscription status) but no payment credentials.
5. Advertising Measurement (No Tracking)
We run ads on platforms like Meta (Facebook/Instagram) and TikTok to reach new creators. To understand whether these ads work, we use Apple's SKAdNetwork framework together with Singular, a mobile measurement service, and the Meta SDK.
Here is what that means in practice: When our ads lead to app installs, Apple itself sends an anonymous, delayed and aggregated report to the ad platform. This report contains no name, no device ID and nothing that identifies you. It only tells us things like "this campaign led to X installs and Y subscriptions."
The app also reports anonymized in-app events (such as app install, trial started, purchase completed) with device information like device type, OS version and IP address to Singular and Meta so ad campaigns can be optimized. These events never include your session content, your name or your email address.
We do not use Apple's App Tracking Transparency identifier (IDFA), we do not show a tracking permission popup, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
6. Creator Affiliate Program
If you discovered Marker through one of our partner creators, we attribute your installation to that creator so they receive credit. This attribution uses technical information that is processed exclusively on our own servers, is used solely to credit the right creator for your install and purchases, and is never shared with advertising platforms.
7. Website Analytics (Umami)
On our website (markerforcreators.com) we use Umami, a privacy-friendly analytics tool that we host on our own servers in the EU. Umami counts page views and button clicks in aggregate. It does not use cookies, does not store any identifier on your device, and does not collect or store personal data: IP addresses are not stored, and visits cannot be traced back to you. Because no personal data is processed and nothing is stored on your device, no consent banner is required.
8. Email Communication
When you create a Marker account we may send you service emails that are necessary for your account and your purchases: a welcome note, verification and password emails, purchase confirmations and notices about your subscription or trial. These emails are not marketing and cannot be switched off while you have an account.
Tips, product updates and offers by email are optional. Whether we ask for your active opt-in or let you opt out depends on the law of the country of your App Store account (storefront): in the EU/EEA, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Canada, Australia, Japan and South Korea we only send such emails after you have switched them on in the app; elsewhere they are on by default and you can switch them off at any time. You can change your choice under Settings, Notifications in the app, and every marketing email contains an unsubscribe link. We keep a record of your choice (date, app version, storefront country and the wording you agreed to) as required by law.
We send email through Resend (Resend, Inc., USA), which processes your email address and the content of the emails on our behalf under a data processing agreement and is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework; sending takes place from EU infrastructure. Our emails contain no tracking pixels. Links in our emails pass through our own server so that we can see which emails were useful; this information is tied to your account and is not shared with third parties.
How We Use Your Information
We use the data described above to keep your sessions in sync, improve app performance and stability, understand which features matter, fix bugs, optimize onboarding, validate subscriptions, credit partner creators, and measure our advertising in aggregate.
Data Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell, trade or rent your personal information. The third-party services we work with are: Apple (App Store, iCloud), our cloud infrastructure provider (session sync), PostHog (analytics, EU), RevenueCat (subscription management), Singular (advertising measurement), Meta (advertising measurement), TikTok (advertising measurement, receives only aggregated or anonymized event data via Singular and Apple's SKAdNetwork) and Resend (email delivery, USA, certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework). Website analytics (Umami) run entirely on our own EU servers and involve no third party.
Legal Basis (EU/EEA Users)
We process the data described above on the basis of contract performance (session sync, subscription validation) and our legitimate interest (anonymized analytics, aggregated advertising measurement, affiliate attribution, service emails). Marketing emails are based on your consent or, where the law of your country permits opt-out based email marketing, on our legitimate interest in direct marketing (Recital 47 GDPR) combined with your right to object at any time. Where required, we rely on your consent. Apple's SKAdNetwork reports contain no personal data.
Data Security
Your creative content is protected by your device's security. Synced sessions are encrypted in transit and at rest. Analytics and measurement data use industry-standard security. We never transmit your session content to advertising platforms.
Your Rights and Choices
You can disable session sync at any time, delete local data by deleting the app, and request deletion of synced or analytics data by contacting us. EU users have the right to access, rectify, erase and port their data and to object to processing based on legitimate interest. California residents have the right to know what is collected and to request deletion; we do not sell personal information.
Data Retention
Local data stays until you delete it. Synced sessions stay until you delete them or request account deletion. Analytics data is retained according to PostHog's retention policy. Advertising measurement data is aggregated and not tied to your identity.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We will update the date above and post the new policy when changes occur, and notify you in the app about material changes.
